How did you fall down the rabbit hole of fountain pens and stationery? AKA, the moment that made you fall in love with writing tools and supplies.
I started collecting while practicing modern calligraphy. The need for the appropriate pens, paper, and inks needed for my hobby made me seek different writing tools. Eventually, it became a collection of what it is now.
What do you do for work? Is there any way this hobby is intermingled with your work?
Since 2019, my work has revolved around writing tools and its implements. If I am not creating my art, I help organize journal meets and workshops, assist fellow hobbyists in fixing or finding their pen needs, or conceptualize pens or inks that Hatch helps bring to life.
What else are you in to that you would like to share with people to better know you?
I am also a mum. If I am not fussing about pens and such, I am preoccupied with my family.
What words/quote would you like to share to other aspiring creatives?
I love this quote from Epictetus when I get lost in my art or life in general. "Things which occupy one's thoughts determine the quality of one's mind. The soul takes on the color of our thoughts."
What do you believe is the best starter fountain pen? Where should people start?
The best starter pens are the ones from reputable brands, and they are normally around $30 or less. They will not be too expensive to break your bank account, but they will also be sturdy enough while you learn proper letter writing.
What's your go-to pen and ink combo?
My everyday pen would be my Kilk Epigram Dusk in BB inked with Tono and Lims Cosmic Sunset paired with the Nakaya Standard Shu in EF inked with TMKR Sepia Hour.
What's your favorite color? :)
Turquoise and brown, of course! Although I secretly love the color red as well.
