Meet the Creative the Starlit Canvas Horizon Pen and Dreams at Dusk Ink Blog Banner

Most of us can remember the exact moment we stumbled into the stationery community. Maybe it started with a childhood love for colored pens, a passion for collecting stickers, or a magical visit to a local supply store. For @skydyedink, it all began with notebooks. But that was just the opening chapter.

As her creative journey bloomed, she grew from enjoying the tools and curating her personal collection to finally creating something that feels both deeply familiar and beautifully universal—a pairing made by an enthusiast, truly for fellow enthusiasts.

See a sky full of stars come to life in a rich tapestry of deep violets and cosmic shimmer. Crafted from mesmerizing blanks by McKenzie Penworks, this stunning material has been masterfully shaped into the Starlit Canvas Horizon—Nahvalur’s sleek and modern piston-filling fountain pen. What makes this HATCH release even more magical, is its equally sparkling Pennonia Dreams at Dusk companion ink!

Taking a leap with her inspiration, we are happy to share and thrilled to launch this special-edition fountain pen and fountain pen ink set!

Read on to get to know the incredible creator behind this stellar collaboration!

Who is @skydyedink?

Question 1: You have so many pens and inks! If you could, can you pick your current favorites among your collection?

@skydyedink: I have been so fortunate to build such a wonderful collection! I really enjoy collecting pens and inks. It is sooo hard to pick a current favorite! I am really enjoying the latest TWSBI Pink Lemonade though, inked with Wearingeul Juliet ink. Although my first love is purple, I really love a nice coral shimmer ink too!

Question 2: If there’s a fountain pen or ink you missed that was already discontinued but you can have the chance to get, what would that be and why?

@skydyedink: I have to admit I am REALLY good at finding the hard to find pen! That’s how I built my Esterbrook Estie collection. There are definitely quite a few Sailor pens I have missed out on that I would love to have someday. One that comes to mind is the Yonomori Sakura, which is a beautiful purple pen with 2 different shades. I love to collect a variety of purple pens, and some of the Sailor ones have been so beautiful!

Question 3: The search for the next addition to the collection is a fun adventure! What kind of pen or ink usually catches your eye? If you could recount the most memorable pen or ink hunt you’ve had, where was it and what did you get?

@skydyedink: I am ALWAYS tempted by a purple sparkly pen or purple ink with shimmer. I also love to buy things my fountain pen friends create. If someone I know is in the HATCH program, or collaborating with a brand, I love to support them! One of my most memorable hunts was trying to find the ELUSIVE TWSBI Sunset Orange and Turquoise pens. These are on every TWSBI collectors list! I spent days and hours scouring eBay and Reddit, but somehow got lucky and found both of these in a short time frame!

Question 4: It’s wonderful to know the hobbies you enjoy. While reading books and doing crochet are a source of comfort, what other hobbies that you haven’t tried yet are you curious to to try in the future if you would have the opportunity?

@skydyedink: Oooh! This is such an interesting question. I really would love to dive more into photography. I have dabbled a bit, but haven’t truly adopted it as a hobby. I love taking beautiful photos and capturing moments. I’ve tried different cameras over the years but haven’t committed. That would definitely be one I lean into more. I also would love to try junk journaling! I kind of do it a little bit in my own way, but there is soo much to the hobby that could be explored.

Question 5: Give us a sneak peek to a week in your life. How do you manage your schedule around your professional career, creative projects and personal life?

@skydyedink: I feel like lately I am a very busy woman! I work a 9-5 that I love where I get to help kids around the world read more books! I do use a planner to organize my life, but my schedule can be pretty fluid and casual. I am a laidback person so tend to go with the flow or last minute plans. I try to be organized but I live in a little bit of organized chaos. I also am so fortunate to have many friends that I love to see, an amazing family, and a great church community. I am not always so busy but make time for the people I care about most!

Question 6: Looking back on the first day you stumbled upon the stationery world to where you are today, what is the biggest difference in how you see the stationery community then as to now?

@skydyedink: Wow! There are SO many more people now in this community! And so many facets to explore that I never even considered. I had been in the planning community for awhile, with stickers, and TONS of washi tape. When I started getting into fountain pens and ink, I realized how much more was out there that I never even realized. I think what I see today is a lot of the same—a great community of people that form friendships around their fun hobbies—but also SO many people that are supportive even outside the hobby.

(Pens and washi tapes galore! As shared by @skydyedink.)

Question 7: How did you first find out about HATCH and how was your experience working with HATCH? Is there any specific detail you’re glad you were able to represent in your design?

@skydyedink: I found out about HATCH on Instagram! Once I saw other content creators and artists partnering with the program, I began to wonder: Is this something I could do? I was so hesitant for a long time. I knew I had creative ideas, but wasn’t sure how to represent them well. The experience was so amazing though. I really appreciate the communication from the team, and how much my input was valued and desired. I had so much ability to direct the creation of the pen and ink, and it was so much fun. I’m so glad that the pen came out with the color scheme I had envisioned, something that really represented a galaxy of colors. And honestly, the shimmer on the ink is insane. SO good and so much fun.

Question 8: As a fellow creative partner, what other HATCH project stood out for you?

@skydyedink:There have been so many beautiful HATCH projects. I really loved the projects from @nibsandflourishes with her Leonardo and Tailored Pen Company pens, with matching inks inspired by flowers.

Tailored Pen Company × @nibsandflourishes - Dahlia Fountain Pen - EndlessPens

Yes, you do see companies bundle pens and inks together, but I felt like with HATCH, it was the first time I was seeing a story and a vision behind the products created and put together. I also just really loved the colors of the pens and ink in her collection!
