ULTEM resin is a high-performance polyetherimide (PEI) thermoplastic commonly used in the production of circuit boards, sterilization equipment, and most notably, aircraft components. It offers exceptional strength, stiffness, and chemical resistance, making it a premium material reserved for highly demanding applications.
Crafted with an emphasis on long-lasting performance, the Ultemate Vac uses exceptionally durable materials, with titanium strategically placed to reinforce vulnerable points where other vacuum pens often fail. Despite its sturdy build, the pen remains lightweight, featuring a transparent Ultem section that allows easy monitoring of ink level in the secondary chamber.
Unlike many vacuum pens that rely on glue for assembly, the lyUltemate Vac is constructed with threaded components and gaskets, making it easy to clean and maintain. The 25mm-long section, tapering from 11.9mm to 10.2mm, offers a comfortable hourglass shape, familiar to fountain pen enthusiasts, for an ergonomic grip.
The nib is a steel size #6 designed and manufactured by Gravitas, silver color and black color housing - paired with ABS plastic feeders - available a variety of sizes: Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad.
Ultemate Vac is threaded to fit JoWo size 6 nib units - when using non Gravitas supplied nib units you are sole responsible to check the fitment and the instalment of the o-rings and we are not responsible for any damages or malfunctions that may occur in the proces of instalment or use of these nibs or nib units.
With a generous ink capacity of over 2.5ml, plus an additional 0.7ml in the secondary chamber, the Ultemate Vac ensures long, uninterrupted writing sessions. The second chamber is equipped with a shut-off valve to prevent ink mishaps, offering a clean, mess-free experience. For optimal ink flow, it’s recommended to unscrew the end knob during use for a consistent, wet line.
Designed for ease of use, this pen can be posted and fully disassembled for thorough cleaning. A key tip: when removing the nib or cleaning (washing) for re-inking, apply silicone grease to the threads and inside the barrel to maintain a water-tight seal and ensure smooth plunger operation, preventing ink spills or piston head slippage of the rod.
