Franklin-Christoph

Their Team

Franklin-Christoph is a family-owned company with roots reaching back to 1900. Originally established as a ceramics manufacturer, the brand evolved over generations, culminating in a pivotal transformation in 2001. That year, Scott C. Franklin reimagined the company’s identity—renaming it Franklin-Christoph and launching its very first fountain pen. This marked the beginning of a new chapter, blending heritage with a passion for writing instruments.

In 2005, Scott officially became the head of the company, now based in Raleigh, North Carolina. As part of the fifth generation, he continues to carry forward the legacy with a deep commitment to craftsmanship and innovation.

Scott’s love for writing tools began in the 1990s, when he discovered fountain pens and developed a lasting appreciation for both pens and pencils. Today, he’s an avid collector of rare pencils and watches—objects that reflect his eye for detail and timeless design.

Born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, Scott was a dedicated baseball player who went on to play at the University of Tennessee. A knee injury ended his athletic career, but he pivoted with resilience, graduating with a degree in political science and economics.

Now married to Tammy for over 20 years, Scott is a proud father to two boys, ages 15 and 13. Franklin-Christoph remains his passion—a brand built on family, creativity, and the enduring beauty of the written word.

Our Team

Their Story

Scott Franklin is the driving force behind the brand’s vision and product development. Through Scott’s passion for writing instruments, he is deeply involved in design decisions and community engagement.

With a small but dedicated team led by its equally dedicated founder, each pen is hand-tested and adjusted by professional nib technicians before shipping, ensuring a smooth writing experience.

Franklin-Christoph tries to do everything the right way, from client service to the quality of their products.

Our Story

Scott started Franklin-Christoph 25 years ago and slowly built it through direct to consumer sales, which was unheard of at the time. Since then, the’ve grown to become the largest US manufacturer of fountain pens.

All of our pens are made in house, but we also feature many fine accessories including paper, ink, Swiss watch, duffle bag, notebook covers, wallets, and much more.

Note that Franklin-Christoph should always have a hyphen as it is a brand name, not an individual person name.

Franklin-Christoph currently has 15 models and Scott's favorite is the Model 20 Marietta, which is a slip cap pen with innovative design.
