ABOUT THE CREATIVE

JOINED ON AUGUST 11, 2024

My name is Karyna, and I fell in love with fountain pens about three years ago. And since then, I went straight down the rabbit hole. I'm also a planner/journaler, and love combining my love of both hobbies into a fulfilling writing experience. If I was not busy enough, I also have a sticker shop where I sell stickers illustrated and painted by me! I love the fountain pen community, and I love meeting with people who share those same interests. Come join me over on my Instagram or over on my YouTube!

CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT

How did you fall down the rabbit hole of fountain pens and stationery? AKA, the moment that made you fall in love with writing tools and supplies?

I received my first fountain pen, a Cross Botanica, from my dad back in 2015. I only fell down the rabbit
hole after I watched Helen of The Coffee Monsterz Co use fountain pens, and I ordered a few starter
pens for myself. I loved how beautifully they wrote and it was all downhill from there. That was back in
September 2021!

What do you do for work? Is there any way this hobby is intermingled with your work?

I work as product support for a software company! There is no way my hobby is intermingled with work except when I talk about it to everyone. I write my notes in a notebook instead of using Notion. It’s funny that my job is so techy when I am so analog.

What else are you in to that you would like to share with people to better know you?

I love hiking in the mountains. I am an avid exerciser but hate going to the gym. I have my own home
gym! I am also a knitter, but it’s been years since I finished a project. I am working on a blanket right now!

What words/quote would you like to share to other aspiring creatives?

Create for yourself. Don't wait for the perfect aesthetic. Just start creating!

What do you believe is the best starter fountain pen? Where should people start?

The Pilot Kakuno is my FAVOURITE starter fountain pen. It's well priced, comes in beautiful colours, and has a magnificent steel nib. I have only great things to say about the Kakuno, and I own four.

What's your go-to pen and ink combo?

It's like asking which is my favourite child, but my current go-to pen and ink combo, or the combo that is inked all the time, is my Pilot Vanishing Point with an EF nib inked with Pilot Iroshizuku Take-Sumi. It is my planner pen!
