Interview with @gabbitries
How did you fall down the rabbit hole of fountain pens and stationery? AKA, the moment that made you fall in love with writing tools and supplies.
I loved collecting notebooks as a teen - because I really wanted to be a writer at some point. So my love for stationery really runs deep! For fountain pens however, it was introduced to me by my significant other - so now my collection of fountain pens and inks are actually 80% his - hand me down to me :)
What do you do for work? Is there any way this hobby is intermingled with your work?
Well, I use my fountain pens on my work notebook planner / calendar :)
What else are you in to that you would like to share with people to better know you?
Ohhhh currently, I'm into bouldering - an activity where I feel that my mind and body are connected! I'm also into stamp making, sewing, baking, indoor rowing, indoor cycling - and this year I'm hoping to get into pottery and glassblowing :)
What words/quote would you like to share to other aspiring creatives?
"Do it!" This two simple words - you already win the moment you try so just do it!
What do you believe is the best starter fountain pen? Where should people start?
Platinum Plaisir - not expensive, nice color selection, light in the hand, good nib writing.
What's your go-to pen and ink combo?
I have a few but here are some of my usual rotations:
Everyday wiring:
- PG Slim Shikiori Ivory Lamé with Maruzen Athena Sepia Ink
- Pelikan M200 Smoky Quartz with Edelstein Smoky Quartz
For funsies
- TPC Summer Lush with Van Dieman's Fallen Leaves
- Kaweco Sport Honey with Noodler's Apache Sunset - for some fun
What's your favorite color? :)
I have loads! But looking at my stuff I'm definitely into: Browns and Greens :)
