How did you fall down the rabbit hole of fountain pens and stationery? AKA, the moment that made you fall in love with writing tools and supplies
I've collected pens of various sorts for as long as I can remember. I had a bedside table drawer full of them. I had a couple of dip pens here and there. And more notebooks and journals than I ever used. So I've always been into stationery. But I didn't really get into fountain pens until a couple of years ago when I started taking an online course. Handwriting my notes seemed to be the best way for me to learn but my hand and wrist would start cramping before I was done with my coursework. I looked into what might work better and started reading about fountain pens. I ordered a Platinum Plaisir and down the rabbit hole I went.
What do you do for work? Is there any way this hobby is intermingled with your work?
Unfortunately, my health has prevented me from being able to work.
What else are you in to that you would like to share with people to better know you?
I love spending time with my two cats, Nike and Vitani and my dog, a Visla named Dino. I enjoy hanging out on the couch with them and playing cozy games on my Switch. I also enjoy going to our local monthly Inks & Drinks meet up where a bunch of fountain pen enthusiasts get together and swatch all different kinds of ink!
What words/quote would you like to share to other aspiring creatives?
"...hope is something you give yourself." - Uncle Iroh (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
What do you believe is the best starter fountain pen? Where should people start?
My Kaweco Perkeo <m> is probably my favorite starter pen to write with even today however,
I think I would recommend a TWSBI Swipe pen to start with. They have a variety of nibs and come with a cartridge (super easy to use for total beginner) and two different converters. That way they are already equipped with the tools they need for the next step down the rabbit hole: ink!
What's your go-to pen and ink combo?
Hard to say. I keep so many pens in rotation with various inks and change them out regularly.
What's your favorite color? :)
It changes from time to time but is almost always a deep purple, burgundy, bordeaux, or a rich red.
