A special collaboration with Satellite Crayon Project’s “Crayons of the Seas”
Discover the Sailor 1911 Profit Jr. Fountain Pen of the Seas—a limited edition 2025 release in three stunning colors. Each pen features stainless steel trims, a Medium Fine nib, and comes with a matching ink converter and 10 mL ink bottle. The cap showcases a special serigraph design with project coordinates, making this a collector's treasure for pen enthusiasts.
This collection features fountain pens and ink in colors that represent the exquisite hues of seawater as seen in satellite photos, especially:
Eleuthera Island (Bahamas)
Body color is derived from the seawater around the western part of Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas at coordinates: 24.98503, -76.36213. The cap top/barrel end color is an original color created in the image of oolite (roestone) found in these waters.
The Bahama Islands is a group of islands to which Eleuthera belongs, consisting of approx. 700 islands and 2,400 large boulders, and is made mostly of coral reefs. Coral reefs near the shallows have what is called the “Tongue of the Sea” where the water depth suddenly dips drastically. This sharp difference in depth gives birth to complex currents and pristine white sand that contains lots of oolite, producing beautiful patterns and vivid colors.
Amami Oshima (Japan)
Body color is derived from the seawater of Kasari Bay in Amami Oshima Island at coordinates: 28.46023, 129.64000
Syvash (Ukraine)
Body color is derived from the shallow tidal wetlands referred to as “rotten sea”, by the west bank of the Sea of Azov at coordinates: 46.13594, 33.91955. The cap top/barrel end color is an original color created in the image of pink salt found in nearby Crimean Peninsula.
Even at the deepest point, depth is only about 3 meters. Due to extreme shallowness, there is little ocean circulation, raising water temperature in summer. Normally, salt content of seawater is approx. 3.5%. The salt content in this “rotten sea” is approx. 10 times the normal amount at 35%. Soy sauce has a salt content of approx. 16%. Through these comparisons, it is easy to see that the waters here are extremely salty. The high salt content makes algae thrive, producing beta-carotene that results in this beautiful color.
Crayon Project’s Donation Program
The Satellite Crayon Project donates a portion of the proceeds to causes such as disaster funds. In 2021 when the project launched, a donation was made to the Republic of Kiribati, which has been used to fund activities to counter natural disasters resulting from climate change. In 2024, a donation was made to the island nation, Kingdom of Tonga, in the South Pacific, where it has been used to aid recovery from the damage suffered in the volcanic eruption and tsunami.
Other Relevant Contributions Sailor Pen Makes
In addition to participating in the donation program by the Satellite Crayon Project to aid natural disaster recovery funds and disaster rehabilitation, Sailor Pen also makes original contributions by donating a portion of the proceeds from these products to Hiroshima Prefecture which operates GSHIP for marine conservation. Donations will be used to counter marine plastic pollution (ocean cleanup and PR activities).
