Their Story

From the start, the founders set out to reinvent writing as a joyful and expressive experience. Alex leads design and material development, guiding each model from the initial sketch to the final prototype, while Kate oversees marketing, sales and global operations. Today, BENU is supported by a dedicated team of around 30 specialists who craft each pen with precision and care.

All materials are developed in house, giving our pens their distinctive, vibrant look and one of a kind finish. In a digital world, the BENU team believes handwriting is an art form, and a pen is not just a tool but a personal statement.

Our Story

One interesting fact about BENU is that the company never buys ready made acrylic blanks and never sells its material to anyone else. Every single color composition is developed in house from scratch, often through dozens of experiments with pigments, foils and resins before the final effect is achieved. While many manufacturers source blanks from common suppliers, you will never see the same material or finish in BENU pens used by another brand.

Another little secret is that many BENU designs are inspired by unexpected sources, from antique icon painting techniques and rare minerals to Armenian landscapes and even gemstone cuts. Chief Designer Alex has a lifelong passion for decorative arts and restoration, and that artistic curiosity continues to shape every collection the company creates. Almost every BENU pen has its own background story or inspiring detail behind the design, and the team strives to share these inspirations through social media and the company’s website.
