About the Creative

I am a PhD student and environmental engineer based out of Sacramento California. I love all things stationery and fountain pens, particularly hand lettering. Halloween is my favorite holiday and fall my favorite season. My two cats Lotus and Nutmeg spend their days knocking over ink bottles and watching birds outside the window.

Interview with @scientificallyengineered

How did you fall down the rabbit hole of fountain pens and stationery? AKA, the moment that made you fall in love with writing tools and supplies.
I was a pen kid. My earliest memory may have been walking to the mailbox to submit a Zoobooks magazine card for a zebra pencil, but the hobby started long before that. I had a large box full of pens and pencils in elementary school that I took everywhere with me (my friends camp trailer, baseball games, even the rodeo). I'm true to this.

What do you do for work? Is there any way this hobby is intermingled with your work?
I am a Civil and Environmental Engineer that works as a regulatory consultant modeling air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions from renewable energy projects.

What else are you in to that you would like to share with people to better know you?
I am from the Sacramento Valley in California and love all things California - I spend any free time (outside of inky things at my desk) hiking in the Sierras or on the Pacific Coast. I love my cats and my dog!

What words/quote would you like to share to other aspiring creatives?
Creativity is a necessary means to the preservation of the human experience. What greater purpose is there than to share and collaborate.

What do you believe is the best starter fountain pen? Where should people start?
TWSBI Eco and Platinum Preppy. TWSBI for the ink choices, Preppy for the ease, both for the forever wet nib no matter how long you leave them sitting capped!

What's your go-to pen and ink combo?
Pilot Custom 823 with Sailor Ink Studio 280

What's your favorite color? :)
Purple.. or neon green... sometimes brown or blue :)
