Our HATCH program here at EndlessPens celebrates what we can create together. Each unique fountain pen, ink, washi tape, or other item produced is the result of years of experience in quality craftsmanship brought to life by the artistic spirit of our Creatives. Today, we’ll feature another of our Creatives who flourished with HATCH and talk about their unique creations.
Who is pensandturquoisebrown?

Kat Zialcita is a self-confessed fountain pen and ink hoarder living a quiet life with her family in Davao City, Southern Philippines. Like many others, her life was turned upside down during the pandemic, which forced her to slow down and explore new hobbies. She began doodling abstract shapes as a way to soothe anxiety. Her inspiration for creating art came from a pen and ink painting that her mother-in-law, an artist, created in the 90s.
We sat down with Kat to discuss her HATCH experience and asked her a few questions.
What is your favorite HATCH creation you've worked on so far? Why do you like it?
I love all my collaborations with HATCH, but the one closest to my heart is the latest one, Dusk. It’s my favorite of all the pens. Not only does it look beautiful, but the tactile sensation of holding it evokes a feeling of how special it is — a similar sensation when one receives their grail pen.
What do you like most about the HATCH program? How has it helped you grow as a Creative?
I joined HATCH with no experience in pitching creatively. I was hesitant and full of self-doubt. Fortunately, I have amazing and supportive friends who encouraged me to take the leap. The reception was very welcoming, and I’ve met amazing people along the way. This has boosted my confidence and inspired me to create more. Who would have thought I'd find people who share my aesthetic?
What inspires you? Where do you find your creative spark?
Everything! I mostly look to nature, classic literature, visual arts, or my daughters for inspiration.
Describe your creative process. How do you go from an idea to a finished product?
I typically create a concept presentation to share with my team. Suppliers will usually provide feedback on what is feasible and what may not be possible. They often offer professional advice on how to best achieve my vision. I might ask for adjustments once or twice, but I generally listen to their suggestions and let them surprise me. In almost every case, the final outcome exceeds my initial expectations.
What role does feedback play in your creative process? How do you handle constructive criticism?
Feedback is crucial! I don't know everything, and it's helpful when people share their opinions, especially regarding their areas of expertise.
What are your goals for your future as a Creative? How do you see the HATCH program contributing to those goals?
My goal is to create more fun projects in the future! I'm not sure if I want to pursue it full-time, but we'll see where life takes me. Hatch has provided a new platform to share my artistic visions, and it's been incredibly exciting. It has definitely boosted my confidence in my own art.
What advice would you give to someone who is interested in joining the HATCH program?
If you're inexperienced, don't let that discourage you. You'll definitely meet people who can guide you toward your vision, so be open to their suggestions. Enjoy the journey and trust the process.
The Bottom Line: Joining HATCH
HATCH empowered Kat to bring her creations to life as a platform that allowed her artistic vision to run free. HATCH is the ideal platform for artists seeking a vibrant community, exposure for their work, and opportunities to collaborate on innovative projects.
