While we’re ecstatic to talk about the brand, let us first tell you about the man behind it all.
Amidst the skyscrapers, financial hub, and commercial port of the robust and bustling country of Hong Kong, there is a heartwarming story of the brand that started when a young man, a teenager at the time, named Jerry Siu opened the doors of his store, Journalize, in September 2014.
He did it all as a dreamer who has an ardent love for stationery. Despite his young age where his peers were either busy with studies or hanging out with friends, Jerry Siu has already planned and launched his business. This was the start of the brand!
From the interesting street of Causeway Bay, right opposite Hong Kong’s Central Library, you would have found quaint black doors opening to a store full of rich and exquisite stationery supplies where every selection reflects the expertise and passion of the owner. It’s a space that warmly welcomes visitors where you can also find Jerry Siu, sharing the same stationery experience enthusiast’s love. From writing instruments to scissors, rulers, stickers, notebooks and more, you can find anything you need if you stop to take a look inside.
A couple years following its opening, in 2016, Journalize launched its first branded product–the Starry Night postcards, which was a series of postcard designs inspired by the thousands of stars in the universe. Although this collection has already sold out, it inspired Jerry Siu to recreate the collection in another form. Thus in 2022, after much planning and preparation, Journalize expanded their repertoire to include another new series of products–the Starry Night Shimmering Fountain Pen Inks.

These unique inks brought new wonders that drew people towards the brand. Each hue of this fountain pen ink collection is handmade in Hungary exclusively for Journalize. The starry Night Shimmering Fountain Pen Inks collection was inspired by the drawings of Vincent Van Gogh and features 6 unique ink colors where each has a shimmer that looks like a starry sky.
From then on, Journalize has created more collections that focus on shimmering inks inspired by different themes. And like its predecessor, these new collections were eye-catching! With series like the Nebula Collection, that reflects the galaxy’s luminescence in the interstellar between star-regions, and the Whimsical Collection which was inspired by fairy tales and a magical world, you can write and paint new shimmering colors to your creation.
The brand continues to cater to its customers who drop by the store and even those who sought them outside of Hong Kong. As it grew, in 2024, Journalize moved to its new location inside the mall of the Bayview Mansion.
As we look into Journalize deeper, we learn that Jerry Siu provides not only a store but a haven for budding creatives, pen-enthusiasts and well-versed artists alike.
In an interview he did back in 2017, the young owner shared a view of the heart and purpose of Journalize.
“Are we doing it for the money? It doesn’t have to be like this. A company creates values for the society, and serves those who love this place.”
From its beginning to the present Journalize exists to cater to those who have the same wonder and passion for stationery.
