Description
In 1814, amidst America’s “second war for independence,” Francis Scott Key penned “The Defence of Fort M’Henry,” which would become America’s national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Key’s poetic descriptions have inspired many paintings, with his “rocket’s red glare” often coming across as fireworks. For this commemorative pen, I took my inspiration from these and other paintings of actual fireworks. I love the impressionistic aura and texture of fireworks expressed in paint, with their vibrant colors swirled into a blue-black sky. From Key’s pen to an artist’s brush to your hand, I hope you find inspiration in this historical thread of creative expression. I am grateful to TPC for expertly bringing this concept to life in celebration of America’s 246th anniversary.
Torch of Liberty features a blank designed by @cursive.not.inkluded, produced by Tailored Pen Company on their Cigar model. Its style is similar to the Cylindre style but the main difference is a smooth transition between the body and the cap. The Cigar style has rounded ends and continues almost the same size throughout the body of the pen.
The stainless steel nib features a fountain pen torch artwork engraving, as well as the limited edition number. Only 18 numbered pens, worldwide.
