In mid 1979 Pelikan introduced the new Signum writing instruments whose shape is characterized by designs of the Ulm School.
The Ulm School was founded after the war as a new School of Design, focusing on the design of everyday objects. It was based on the Bauhaus style, which connects practicality, functionality and design.
